The Town of Ochlocknee is Breaking the Law...

On September 11, 2025 I made four separate open records requests of the Town of Ochlocknee. These requests were properly formatted and requested documents to which I am entitled as a member of the public under  The Georgia Open Records Act (O.C.G.A. § 50-18-70 et seq.). I had previously requested meeting minutes from 2023-2025, and I requested those records be provided in digital format. The town clerk confirmed that they were available digitally and asked me to give her several days to compile them. When I returned with a USB thumb drive, I was informed by the clerk that Mayor Ronnell Searcy instructed her that she was to print the documents. I was presented with an invoice for $70.00. My correspondence details why this was illegal, as are the mayor's susbequent attempts confound my acquisition of these public records.

WHAT DOES MAYOR SEARCY HAVE TO HIDE THAT HE WOULD PERSIST IN VIOLATING STATE LAW AND, APPARENTLY, MISLEAD THE TOWN'S ATTORNEY AS TO THE FORMAT IN WHICH RECORDS ARE MAINTAINED?

Below is a full transcript of my four records requests, responses from the town's attorney, and my several replies to the town's attorney. This conduct is illegal. It is unacceptable. And I aim to put an end to it. This is the sort of obstructionism that I have encountered ever since the town illegally attempted to pass the tiny home zoning ordinances.
