Matt has been busy requesting records, and what he has discovered is shocking. The Town of Ochlocknee's ordinances are a mess. The town council has failed to develop a comprehensive and enforceable set of ordinances by which the town is able to be governed. Council meets briefly each month, and most votes are perfunctory rubber stamps of whatever the mayor tells them to vote for.
In 37 meetings between January of 2023 and May of 2025, only four or five motions received any substantive deliberation. A town council that simply serves as the rubber stamp for a mayor who has demonstrated an inability--even contempt--for following the law is not a council worthy of your vote.
The Town of Ochlocknee is falling apart. It's time that YOU bring accountability to our sleepy little town. I don't have all of the solutions. It will take a lot of work to turn this ship around, but the town's citizens MUST take action before it is too late.
The following files were obtained through open records requests submitted to the Town Clerk. The ordinances are incomplete, but this is what I have been able to get my hands on so far.
